Go to the Azulejo museum. Go on a date with the tiles that caught your eyes while strolling the streets of Lisbon. There, you will feast your eyes upon its splendor, as you learn about the origins and development of these painted, ceramic tiles. A local beauty representing the Portuguese culture, you will be up close and personal for a measly €5, much less than what you will shell out when you go to a classy restaurant on a first date. So the next time the Azulejo on the street causes a double take, you’ll smile at the fact that you were intimate once before.
The next time we are in Lisbon, we will again step into this classy cocoon of drunks. Fine, “port connoisseurs”. Hidden away from the bustle of the city, the port and duoro wine institute welcomes anyone with a dizzying selection of sweet liquor, comfy chairs and cool ambient lighting. If you are not a port drinker, I am certain this experience will turn you into a fan. Leave space in your luggage to carry a bottle or two home (or a crate!). They do not ship… we asked.
