The Netherlands is not exactly the gourmet capital of the world, but these three finds make it all worth your while, amongst museums, weed and other *ahem* activities.
Where: Singel 385, 1012 WL, Amsterdam
Notable: If you don’t go to any of the places on this post, it’s ok, just make sure you go to this bakery and get a Stroopwafel. You know that is the first place I’ll go if I visit Amsterdam again.
Price: Oh so worth it!
Where: Tweede Egelantiersdwarsstraat 24A, 1015 SC, Amsterdam
Notable: Run by a Dutch and Japanese couple, this place is all about… you guessed it, Japanese pancakes, or Okonomiyaki. Freshly made, authentic and extremely tasty! Give yourself a break from Croquettes and Frites this one time?
Where: Javaplein 23 hs, 1095 CJ, Amsterdam
Notable: It’s a short tram ride outside of the main part of town, but if it’s a nice day, it is a perfect place to dine. If you want to spend on a well prepared and delicious meal, this would be a wise choice.
Price: Sit down dinner prices (~40 Euro per head)
Where: By the westermarkt
Notable: If you are a seal, this would be heaven for you. For us, it tasted like… well, basically a raw chunk of fish in hotdog buns. Sashimi yes, Dutch raw herring no thanks, but hey we tried! Try if you dare, you might just love it.
